Rushville Captures Lead Early To Defeat Franklin County Wildcats JV
The Franklin County Wildcats Junior Varsity watched the game slip away early as errors plauged the Wildcats in the first inning. These proved to be costly and the team couldn’t recover in a 15-8 loss to Rushville on Thursday evening. With the loss, the Wildcats JV record falls to 2-6 on the season and 1-3 in EIAC play.
The Wildcats collected six hits and Rushville had eight in the high-scoring affair. That was also haunted by many defensive errors from both teams. Franklin County committed nine errors, five in the first inning. Rushville had seven errors.
The big inning for the Wildcats came in the fifth inning when they tallied six runs. The offensive onslaught by Franklin County was led by Morgan Bare, Emily Wendel, Kaylynn Rauch, Kiya Rains, and Paige Hall, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Olivia Mohler earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Rushville. She surrendered eight runs, none earned, on six hits over five innings, striking out nine and walking one.
Karlie Hahn took the loss for Franklin County. She surrendered 15 runs,eight earned, on eight hits over four innings, striking out two.
Franklin County collected six hits on the day. Bare and Rains each had two singles to lead Franklin County.
Herbert led Rushville with two hits in three at bats.
The Wildcats Junior Varsity will be back in action on Friday evening for a game against the Knightstown Panthers. The JV game will immediately follow the varsity contest which begins at 5pm.
