Early Lead For Batesville Seals Fate For Franklin County Wildcats JV

Franklin County Wildcats JV fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-3 loss to Batesville on Thursday. Batesville scored on a double by Oldham, a groundout by Saler, and a wild pitch during Phibos’s at bat in the first inning.

The Franklin County Wildcats JV struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Batesville, giving up 13 runs.

Batesville opened up scoring in the first inning, when Oldham doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Batesville scored four runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Batesville came thanks to a walk by Oldham, a triple by Martin, and a groundout by Saler.
Westerfeld led the Batesville to victory on the pitcher’s mound. She lasted five innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out eight.

Karlie Hahn took the loss for Franklin County Wildcats JV. She allowed seven hits and 13 runs over five innings, striking out three.

Makaylee Woods went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Franklin County Wildcats JV in hits.
Batesville totaled seven hits in the game. Saler and Westerfeld all had multiple hits for Batesville.
