Batesville Captures Early Lead To Defeat Franklin County Junior Varsity
Franklin County Wildcats JV watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 11-3 loss to Batesville on Tuesday. Franklin County Wildcats JV lost despite out-hitting Batesville seven to four. With the loss, Franklin County’s record on JV falls to 3-7 on the year and 1-4 in EIAC play.
Batesville got on the board early in the first scoring on a walk by Oldham, then a passed ball during Saler’s at bat later in the inning.
Batesville kept on the gas pedal in the second when they scored six runs. Batesville offense in the inning was led by Westerfeld, Wenlist, Martin, Phibos, and M Laker, all driving in runs in the frame.
Oldham got the win for Batesville. She lasted five innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out five and walking one.
Karlie Hahn took the loss for Franklin County Wildcats JV. She allowed two hits and nine runs over one and one-third innings, striking out two.
Hahn also led Franklin County Wildcats JV with two hits in three at bats including a single and a triple. Morgan Bare, Sarah Bare, Sam Neaves, and Destiny Lanham all added singles for the Wildcats, while Laura Hildebrand had a double.
Franklin County’s JV will be back in action next Monday when they travel to Lawrenceburg to take on the Tigers. It will immediately follow the varsity game.
