Early Lead For Franklin County JV Sets Stage For Victory Over Knightstown
An early lead helped Franklin County defeat Knightstown 11-5 on Friday. The Wildcats were able to take the lead in the first inning and never looked back. With the victory, the Wildcats were able to end their losing and improve their record to 3-6 on the season.
The Wildcats JV started the offense in the first inning when Laura Hildebrand and Sarah Bare scored on a single by Morgan Bare. Morgan later scored on a double by Emily Wendel to make the score 3-1 after the first.
Franklin County added four more runs in the second inning. Laura Hildebrand, Wendel, and Kaylynn Rauch all drove in runs in the frame.
Sarah Bare was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats JV. She lasted four innings, allowing six hits and five runs, three earned while striking out two. Karlie Hahn finished off the game for Franklin County throwing an inning of relief out of the bullpen. Hahn struck out the side in the top of the fifth to finish off the Panthers.
Mattie took the loss for Knightstown. She went three innings, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits and striking out two.
Franklin County Wildcats tallied 12 hits on the game. Abby Orschell, Bare, Wendel, Bare, and Hahn each collected two hits to lead the Wildcats.
Franklin County’s JV will be back in action on Tuesday evening when they travel to Batesville to take on the Bulldogs. First pitch is scheduled to follow the conclusion of the varsity contest.
