Franklin County High School

New Castle High School

Meet Recap

On Wednesday night, Dylan Little and Braydon Ertel of Franklin County High School took on Nathan Hacker and Caleb Matthews of New Castle in the Individual Sectional Semifinals. Both of these players teams had been eliminated on Tuesday. The winner of this game would advance to the sectional finals tomorrow, and the loser would be eliminated like the rest of their team. New Castle played Franklin County in the second match of the season. However, Braydon Ertel was absent from play that day, and Dillon Lewis had to take his place. The Trojans dominated on that day winning 6-2, 6-0. Wednesday was different. The Cats started off strong taking an early 2-1 lead. Then, 4 straight games won gave the Cats a 6-1 victory in the first set. The Trojans tried to mount a comeback in the second set, including a break of serve, but the Cats were able to hold them off winning the set 6-3. This match ended the careers of the New Castle doubles players. Also, it gave the Cats the single season win record in Franklin County history. They have improved to 18-0 overall and will battle Centerville High School on Thursday night. Come out to Richmond High School on Thursday night at 4:30 as the Dylan and Braydon look to advance to Individual Regionals.
