Franklin County High School
Batesville High School
Franklin County defeated Batesville in a wild 8 inning game in the rain at Liberty Park in Batesville, 7-6 Thursday night.
After Batesville climbed on top 4-0 after the 1st inning on 2 earned runs, pitcher Sam Krider kept Batesville off the scoreboard until another 2 unearned runs made the game 6-2. With the rain beginning to fall, FC battled back to tie the game in the 6th inning at 6-6.
After both teams battled out of jams in the 6th and 7th innings, FC took the lead in the 8th inning when Cameron Meyers caused a bases loaded balk (the second FC run via balk of the game) to push across the go-ahead run. In the bottom of the 8th, Batesville again threatened by moving a runner into scoring position at 2nd base. With two outs, Batesville sent a base hit to left field which was fielded by Bradley Singer who delivered a perfect throw to get the runner at home and end the game.
With the win, FC moves to 11-1 in EIAC play (17-3 overall). With an 11-1 record, FC is guaranteed at least a share of the conference title and can clinch the outright title with one more win or another loss from the 2nd place team.
FC will host 3 games next week, Monday vs. Lawrenceburg, Tuesday vs. Greensburg and Friday in the season finale vs. Cambridge City Lincoln. Monday night will be Senior Night where all 8 senior member of the team will be honored pregame.
