Franklin County High School
Connersville High School – Dh
Franklin County completed an EIAC doubleheader sweep at Connersville on Saturday, winning game 1, 5-4 and game 2, 8-3.
In Game 1, Sam Krider gutted out a complete game on the mound to earn the win. After failing to score in the 1st inning with bases loaded 1 out, FC battled from behind for most of the game. In the top of the 7th, down 4-3, Franklin County put the first two batters on base. Cameron Meyers delivered the clutch hit to score two runners and out the Wildcats on top in the final frame.
In game 2, Zach Stirn earned the win. Stirn went 5 innings without giving up an earned run (3 unearned) on his 18th birthday. Tyler Miller came on to earn the save, pitching a scoreless final 2 innings. Offensively, FC jumped out in front early but had just a 6-3 lead in the 6th inning before a Kannon Sams 2-run home run gave the Wildcats a 5 run cushion going to the 7th inning.
FC is now 10-1 in EIAC play, good for 1st place in the current standings with 3 conference games yet to play. The overall record is now 16-3. On Monday, FC will host Greensburg at 5:00pm. Monday is also youth night, all FC youth baseball players will gain free admission if wearing their team jersey to the game.
