It was a Tuesday in the town of Franklin, Indiana where the fabulous freshman Ashlan Hill performed a feat not ever accomplished by anyone else in a Franklin County uniform.  Ashlan is the first Long Jumper to ever qualify for the IHSAA State Tournament.  On her second jump of the night, she jumped an astounding 17′ 4.25″.  This was good enough to break the school record in the event and also qualify for state.  “Ashlan performs very well when she is nervous; it’s an adrenaline thing for her,” said head coach Joe Davidson.  “As a freshman on a big stage, she had plenty of reasons to be nervous, but she didn’t let that affect her.  In fact, she used it to her advantage.”

She competes on Saturday, June 3rd at 3:00 in Bloomington.  She is seeded 15th out of 27th other athletes in the event.  Follow @MrDavidson23 on Twitter for live updates of the event.
